HL Deb 02 April 1860 vol 157 cc1710-1
THE MARQUESS OF CLANRICARDE

wished to correct a statement he had made the other evening with reference to the sum expended on the works now in progress at the mouth of the Tyne. He had read from the Report of the Harbour of Refuge Commissioners that the sum of £750,000 was recommended by them as the total cost of efficient works for a good harbour of refuge at the mouth of the Tyne. That was quite correct; but he stated incidentally that £500,000 of this sum had been already expended, which he found was not the fact. The sum actually laid out was only £142,000.
