HL Deb 01 August 1859 vol 155 cc745-6

Order of the Day for the Third Reading read.

On Question that the Bill be now read a Third Time,

LORD CRANWORTH

explained, that on the second reading of the Bill he had stated that the Judge of the Admiralty Court had said that the opening of the Court to the ordinary legal practitioners was a matter of urgency; but he had not attributed to the learned Judge any approval of the provisions of the Bill.

LORD WYNFORD

repeated what he had stated upon a former occasion, that at no time were the provisions of this Bill formally communicated to the learned Judge of the Admiralty Court, and again urged upon their Lordships the injustice of opening that Court without giving compensation to the proctors.

After a few words from the LORD CHANCELLOR,

Bill read 3a, and passed.

House adjourned at Eight o'clock, till To-morrow, half-past Ten o'clock.
