LORD KINNAIRD

moved, that the House do now resolve itself into Committee.

The EARL of HARDWICKE

opposed the Motion, on the ground that it was fraught with danger to the occupying tenant and the remainderman, and moved that it be committed that day six months.

The EARL of LONSDALE

seconded the Amendment, on the ground that the Bill would lead to great abuses.

The DUKE of CLEVELAND

, in spite of some objections to the Bill, was of opinion that it ought to be committed.

It was also opposed by the Earl of MALMESBURY, Lord BEAUMONT, and the Marquess of SALISBURY.

EARL EITZWILLIAM

supported the Motion for going into Committee.

On Question, "That the word 'now' stand part of the Motion,

Their Lordships divided:—Content 18; Not Content 36: Majority 18.

Resolved in the Negative; and House to be put into Committee on this day Six Months.
