HL Deb 23 May 1848 vol 98 cc1254-5

The MARQUESS of LONDONDERRY desired to put a question to the noble Marquess opposite (the Marquess of Lansdowne) respecting a letter which had appeared in the public papers, forming part of the correspondence between the British Minister at Madrid and the Spanish Government, and which he thought was of great importance. What he wished to know was, whether that letter was a genuine letter; if it was, whether it had been received at the time when the other correspondence was laid before Parliament; if so, why it had not been produced; and whether the noble Marquess would lay it on the table?

The MARQUESS of LANSDOWNE was understood to say that he did not know whether the letter was correct or not, but he would make inquiry.

The MARQUESS of LONDONDERRY said he would, on a subsequent day, move for the whole of the correspondence.
