§ Viscount Duncannonwished to state that, of the million advanced for the clergy of Ireland, only the sum of 640,000l. had been claimed by the clergy, there, therefore, remained a surplus in the hands of the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, of 360,000l. Of that sum, 100,000l. had been lent by the commissioners to the Board of Works in Ireland, and the remaining 260,000l. was to be applied to payment of tithes due to the clergy, on the coming into operation of the late Tithe Act. The sum of 100,000l. advanced to the Board of Works, would, of course, be repaid to the Ecclesiastical Commissioners.
§ Subject dropped.
