HL Deb 01 December 1830 vol 1 c706
Earl Grosvenor,

in presenting some Petitions on this subject, expressed a wish, that, whenever the question was brought forward, it would be by the noble and learned Lord on the Woolsack. He urged the necessity of as speedy a consideration of the question as was consistent with the important duties of the new Administration, with a view to the abolition of Slavery. He knew that it could not be brought forward before the recess, but immediately afterwards he hoped that it would be submitted to their Lordships' consideration; and that measures would then be taken to give liberty to the unfortunate slave.
