said a few words relative to the situation of officers in the army and navy who had served their country with zeal and fidelity, and whose merits ought not now to be disregarded.

The Earl of Liverpool

said, that the subject of half-pay was now under the consideration of government; and he had no doubt that some measure would be adopted, with a view to the comfort of the meritorious individuals to whom the noble duke had alluded.
