HL Deb 20 January 1812 vol 21 c222
Lord Grenville

acquainted the House it was with extreme reluctance he had again to postpone the pending discussion of the important subject of the Catholics of Ireland. With the cause he believed all their lordships were acquainted, namely, the severe domestic affliction [the death of the son of lord G. Cavendish] which recently occurred in a family, with which his noble friend, who was to bring forward the motion, was nearly connected, and in which affliction he deeply participated. It was proposed to defer the discussion for a week, and no longer. His lordship then moved to discharge the order for summoning their lordships' for Friday the 24th inst. and to renew the same for Friday the 31st inst. which was ordered accordingly.
