HC Deb 21 July 1937 vol 326 cc2209-11
Mr. Attlee

May I ask the Prime Minister how far he proposes to go with business to-night, in the event of the Motion on the Paper being carried?

The Prime Minister

After the Debate on the Motion with regard to Palestine, we desire to obtain the first three Orders on the Paper, and the suspension of the Eleven o' Clock Rule is being moved in order that that may be done.

Captain Strickland

In view of the seriousness of the Palestine situation,

would not the Prime Minister give a little more time than will be available if he contemplates taking three other Measures tonight after the discussion on Palestine.

The Prime Minister

I do not think that the first three Orders will take much time.

Mr. Gallacher

Is it not possible to carry on the Debate on Palestine after Eleven o'clock for an hour or two extra?

The Prime Minister

Certainly.

Motion made, and Question put, That the Proceedings on Government Business be exempted, at this day's Sitting, from the provisions of the Standing Order (Sittings of the House)."—[The Prime Minister.]
