HC Deb 14 March 1935 vol 299 cc572-5
Mr. LANSBURY

May I ask the Lord President of the Council what will be the business-for next week, also the date of the Budget, and how far it is proposed to go to-night in the event of the Eleven o'Clock Rule being suspended?

Mr. BALDWIN

In regard to the business for to-night, as is always the case when Mr. Speaker is moved out of the Chair, the suspension of the Eleven o'Clock Rule is moved in order to make sure that we get the necessary Votes. The same thing applies to the Vote on Monday in respect of the Army and on Tuesday in regard to the Air Estimates. With regard to the Budget, my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer will open his Budget on Monday, 15th April.

The business for next week will be:

Monday: We propose to move Mr. Speaker out of the Chair on first going into Committee of Supply on the Army Estimates and to consider Votes A, 1, 10, 11, 13, 14 and 15 for 1935.

Tuesday: We propose to move Mr. Speaker out of the Chair on first going into Committee of Supply on the Air Estimates and to consider Votes A, 1, 4, 3 and 8 for 1935 and Air Supplementary Estimate for 1934.

Wednesday and Thursday: Government of India Bill, Committee stage.

The business for Friday will be announced later.

On any day, if there is time, other Orders will be taken.

Motion made, and Question put, That the Proceedings on Government Business be exempted at this day's Sitting, from the provisions of the Standing Order (Sittings of the House)."—[Mr. Baldwin.]

The House divided: Ayes, 246; Noes, 40.
