HC Deb 07 April 1927 vol 204 cc2281-5
Mr. RAMSAY MacDONALD

Will the Prime Minister kindly tell us what is to be the business next week?

The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Baldwin)

The business will be:

Monday: The Chancellor of the Exchequer will open his Budget.

Tuesday and Wednesday: General discussion on the Budget Resolutions.

Thursday: Motion for the Easter Adjournment until Tuesday, 26th April.

We hope to get the remaining stages of the Pacific Cable Bill during the week.

Mr. MacDONALD

On what day does the right hon. Gentleman propose to make his statement regarding the franchise?

The PRIME MINISTER

To be on the safe side, I would say on Thursday.

Mr. MacDONALD

Will the right hon. Gentleman reconsider that, in view of the fact that Thursday is always a sort of tailing-off day, when a great many hon. Members of all parties have gone, could he not make the statement on one of the previous days of next week?

The PRIME MINISTER

I will take that suggestion into consideration.

Motion made, and Question put, That on Tuesday, 12th, and on Wednesday, 13th April, Government Business do have precedence."—(The Prime Minister.)
