HC Deb 22 April 1926 vol 194 cc1393-7
Mr. RAMSAY MacDONALD

Will the Prime Minister be good enough to tell the House what business it is proposed to take next week?

The PRIME MINISTER

On Monday, the Chancellor of the Exchequer will open his Budget.

On Tuesday and Wednesday until 15 p.m., there will be a general discussion of the Budget Resolutions.

Thursday: We shall move Mr. Speaker out of the Chair on the Civil Services Estimates, and consider Class 1, Votes 8, 9, 3, 7, 10 and 6, in Committee.

Mr. W. THORNE

Can the Prime Minister say when the Departmental Committee's Report on necessitous areas will be circulated?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am afraid I cannot do so without notice.

Mr. MacDONALD

Has any provision been made for the Vote of Censure which is down in the names of certain colleagues of mine and in my own name? I suppose the Prime Minister has considered it, and has a reason why it should not come no next week?

The PRIME MINISTER

We consider the Budget to be rather important. If my right hon. Friend will be good enough to consult, through the usual channels, we are anxious to give as early a date as we can, but next week we must take the Budget, and make a start with the Resolutions, and get Mr. Speaker out of the Chair. There has been discussion on the subject, and I do not think there will be any difficulty about making arrangements, but it is not possible next week.
