HC Deb 29 May 1922 vol 154 cc1673-4
Colonel GRETTON

(by Private Notice) asked the Secretary of State for War if it is the intention of His Majesty's Government to withdraw all troops from Dublin; and if any orders have been issued?

Mr. CHURCHILL

There is no such intention at the present time.

Colonel GRETTON

Can the right hon. Gentleman give us an assurance that the troops remaining in Ireland will be allowed to carry such arms as are necessary for their protection in that country.

Mr. CHURCHILL

That is a question which should be addressed to the War Office. I cannot conceive that they will not be allowed.

Colonel GRETTON

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the troops now go out without side arms, even the military police?
