HC Deb 29 May 1922 vol 154 c1650
1. Sir HARRY BRITTAIN

asked the President of the Board of Trade the reason for the notice displayed on British ships forbidding travellers, British or otherwise, from importing gold into this country?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. Baldwin)

There are no restrictions on the importation of gold into this country. The export of gold is, however, prohibited, save under licence. I was not previously aware of the existence of the notices referred to, and should be glad if my hon. Friend could furnish Inc with further particulars.

Sir H. BRITTAIN

I will furnish the right hon. Gentleman with one or two, notices.
