HC Deb 09 May 1922 vol 153 cc2004-5
76. Viscount CURZON

asked the hon. Member for the Pollok Division of Glasgow, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, whether any steps have yet been taken to restore the flower beds in Hyde Park in conjunction with any of the large horticultural firms?

Sir JOHN GILMOUR (for the First Commissioner of Works)

A generous gift of British-grown bulbs has been made to Hyde Park through the Chamber of Horticulture. The question of restoring the flower beds in that park, in conjunction with large horticultural firms, has been considered in the past, but there proved to be many serious objections to the proposal, including the cost involved to the firms. The First Commissioner would be willing, however, to reconsider the matter carefully should any suitable proposal be made.
