HC Deb 04 May 1922 vol 153 c1556
Mr. HALLS

May I put a question respectfully to you, Sir, with reference to the questions on the Order Paper this afternoon? I desire to draw your attention to the fact that the questions relating to Ireland occupied about 20 minutes of Question time. They resulted almost in a Debate, and that necessitated cutting down the time that is allocated to questions which other Members have on the Order Paper. I very respectfully suggest that, instead of taking up so much time, it would be better if some time were allocated some day, when the whole issue could be raised and dealt with in a much fairer way than it can be by this string of questions and supplementary questions?

Mr. SPEAKER

I am doing my best to induce Members to restrict their supplementary questions, so that other Members may have a fait chance. If hon. Members would give that fair consideration to one another, 100 questions could easily be answered in the time allotted.
