§ 15. Mr. ROBERT YOUNGasked the Secretary of State for Air whether he is aware that, resulting from a recommendation from the Select Committee on National Expenditure in 1918, the Costing Section of the Aeronautical Supply Department was transferred to the Technical 1539 Costs Branch, now attached to the Admiralty; whether he can state what savings were made by the Technical Costs Branch for the Air Ministry on aero engine quotations; and whether the quotations are still referred to it?
Captain GUESTThe answer to the first question is in the affirmative; to the second, that savings amounting to £3,000 have been effected as a result of references of aero engine quotations to the Costing Section; to the last, that no recent occasion has arisen for reference of such quotations to the Costing Section, but such reference would certainly be made whenever considered desirable.
