HC Deb 04 May 1922 vol 153 cc1538-9
15. Mr. ROBERT YOUNG

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether he is aware that, resulting from a recommendation from the Select Committee on National Expenditure in 1918, the Costing Section of the Aeronautical Supply Department was transferred to the Technical Costs Branch, now attached to the Admiralty; whether he can state what savings were made by the Technical Costs Branch for the Air Ministry on aero engine quotations; and whether the quotations are still referred to it?

Captain GUEST

The answer to the first question is in the affirmative; to the second, that savings amounting to £3,000 have been effected as a result of references of aero engine quotations to the Costing Section; to the last, that no recent occasion has arisen for reference of such quotations to the Costing Section, but such reference would certainly be made whenever considered desirable.
