asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the vacant portfolios in the Government of Iraq have yet been filled?

Mr. WOOD

The post of Minister of Public Works has been filled. Whether the other vacant offices have been filled or not has not been reported by the High Commissioner.

Mr. MALONE

Are these Ministers nominated by the British representative, and have they to contest a bye-election as in this country?

Mr. WOOD

I cannot answer as to bye-elections. With regard to the first part of the question, Ministers are selected by His Majesty King Feisal.
