Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHYasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether any action has been decided upon with regard to the claim of the Government of the United States of America for the payment of the costs of the American Army of Occupation; what has been done with the payments received to date from Germany for the Armies of Occupation; whether any sums on this account have been received by His Majesty's Government; and whether any payments have been made to the United States Government out of the sums received to date from Germany for reparations or for the costs of the Armies of Occupation?
§ The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Hilton Young)No payment has been made to the United States Government for the cost of Armies of Occupation out of the sums collected by the Reparation Commission, and their claim in this respect is now being considered by the Allied Governments. The amounts received by His Majesty's Government have been paid into the Exchequer except in so far as they have been appropriated by Parliament in aid of advances to Germany for coal.
