Mr. MALONEasked the President of the Board of Education whether he is aware that the Burnham standard and the Pensions Act of 1918 have attracted a number of young people, among them many ex-service men, into the teachers' training institutions, from which some have already been drafted into the teaching profession; and, seeing that there is a strong feeling among these students and teachers that the proposed 5 per cent. deduction from salaries for superannuation purposes constitutes a breach of the conditions under which they entered this profession, will he reconsider this question?
