HC Deb 27 March 1922 vol 152 cc946-7
49. Sir F. HALL

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in bankruptcies in which the creditors have appointed a Committee of Inspection, the Board of Trade have issued instructions to the Trustees in Bankruptcy to take proceedings for the recovery of gaming losses paid by the bankrupt by cheque?

Mr. BALDWIN

No, Sir. In such cases the acts of a Trustee in Bankruptcy are subject to the authority, not of the Board of Trade, but of the Committee of Inspection. I would refer my hon. Friend to Section 56 of the Bankruptcy Act of 1914.

Sir F. HALL

Am I to understand that it rests with the inspector to see whether proceedings should or should not be taken?

Mr. BALDWIN

It rests with the Committee of Inspection.
