THOMSONasked the Secretary to the Treasury whether the Government's adoption of the recommendation of the National Economy Committee that teachers in State-aided schools should contribute to their pensions is to be also applied to the members of the Civil Service, in order that there shall be no breach of the agreement recently made with the teachers that their pensions should be on the same footing as the Civil Service?
Mr. YOUNGNo, Sir. The Committee did not consider it possible to recommend any course likely to lead to a reduction in the cost of civil servants' superannuation. The latter part of the question is not understood.
