Mr. WALTER SMITHasked the Minister of Health whether a complaint signed by four inhabitant householders in the rural district of the Isle of Wight, that the local authority had failed to exercise their powers under Part XI of the Housing of the Working Classes Act, 1890, was sent to him at the beginning of last December; whether an offer to give security for costs was also made on a subsequent occasion; whether a reply to the complaint has now been sent by the authority; and whether it is intended to hold a public inquiry without any further delay?
§ Sir A. MONDI am asking the local authority to expedite their reply and as soon as it is received I will consider carefully whether there is a primâ facie case to justify a local inquiry.
