§ 33. Lieut.-Colonel Sir J. NORTON-GRIFFITHSasked the Minister of Labour whether he has further considered the question of the abolition of trade boards in view of the widespread opinion in the country that the stringency of their regulations tends towards increasing unemployment; and whether he proposes to take any steps in the matter?
§ Dr. MACNAMARAMy hon. and gallant Friend is no doubt aware that last autumn I appointed a Committee, under the chairmanship of Lord Cave, to inquire into the working and effects of the Trade Boards Acts and to report what changes, if any, are desirable. This Committee has taken evidence from a great number of employers and workers and I expect shortly to receive its report.
