Mr. NAYLORasked the Home Secretary for what reason a detachment of mounted police broke up a procession of unemployed in Kennington Road, S.E., on Thursday evening, 23rd February; whether he is aware that a woman with an infant in her arms was ridden down; and whether he will take steps to ensure that the mounted police are instructed to act with due restraint on such occasions?
§ Mr. SHORTTI am informed by the Commissioner of Police that at the demonstration on 23rd February no procession was broken up, and no mounted men were even present.
