Mr. RAFFANasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the total amount of the sums paid, and to be paid, out of public moneys to the occupiers of land in respect of the wheat and oat crops of 1921 under Section 2 of the Corn Production Acts (Repeal) Act, 1921; how much of it has been paid up to date; how much still remains payable; and whether the total amount of the latter has now been finally ascertained?
Mr. YOUNGThe total is about £18,182,000, of which payments in England and Wales up to the 4th instant and in Scotland up to the 3rd instant amounted to £17,996,410, and the amount still to be paid is estimated at £186,000. A final figure cannot yet be given under the latter head.
