HC Deb 06 March 1922 vol 151 c856
90. Major W. MURRAY

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether it has now been arranged that Government officials drawing salaries of lees than£1,000 a year should be allowed only third-class travelling fares unless the greater part of the journey is undertaken between the hours of 10 p.m. and 10 a.m.; and, if not, whether he will introduce this economy?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Hilton Young)

The Government have decided to set up a special Committee to examine and report on this question as applying to all State services. The Committee will consist of the Financial Secretary of the Treasury as Chairman and the Permanent Secretary of the Treasury, the First Sea Lord, the Chief of the Imperial General Staff and the Chief of the Air Staff as members.
