HC Deb 02 March 1922 vol 151 cc565-6
31. Mr. T. GRIFFITHS

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the increase in mortality from cancer, and the urgent necessity for investigating the origin of this disease, and the best form of treatment, he will consider the advisability of the appointment of a Royal Commission on this question?

The MINISTER of HEALTH (Sir Alfred Mond)

I have been asked to reply. I am advised that a Royal Commission would not be a suitable body to undertake an investigation of this kind. Extensive research into the cause and treatment of the disease has for some time past been undertaken by various competent medical bodies in this and other countries.
