HC Deb 01 March 1922 vol 151 c383
70. Major KELLEY

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he can arrange that British industrial areas which are suffering through the suspension of British naval construction shall receive a full share of any orders from Crown Colony administrations for railway, bridge, and dock materials and plant?

Mr. CHURCHILL

Every effort is being made to encourage the placing of orders for railway and other similar material in this country by the Colonial administrations; but I cannot undertake that orders shall be placed in particular districts, without regard to the requirements of the Colonies upon whose behalf the orders are placed.
