Mr. TAYLORasked the Secretary for Scotland if he has received any communication from parish councils in Scotland that if some assistance is not given by the Treasury the parish councils in industrial areas will be unable to continue giving relief to able-bodied destitute unemployed persons; and if he is prepared to recommend that a grant be given for this purpose?
§ Mr. MUNROI have received a copy of a letter addressed to the Chancellor of the Exchequer by the Parish Councils Association requesting that grants be made. I understand that the Chancellor is arranging to see a small deputation from the association next week.
