21. Mr. LOCKER-LAMPSONasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether it is proposed to save 1877 the present high cost of water police by employing active service ratings in accordance with the recommendation of the Geddes Committee?
§ Mr. AMERYNeither the Admiralty nor the Assistant Commissioner of Metropolitan Police, who advises them, consider that the water police can be abolished without grave loss of public property which would far exceed the cost of this Force, but the Commissioner has now concurred in certain reductions which will effect substantial economies.
