HC Deb 21 February 1922 vol 150 c1717
65. Mr. J. DAVISON

asked the Postmaster-General whether it is proposed to lay telegraph and telephone wires from New Romney Post Office to St. Mary's, a distance of about 2½ smiles, for private use only; and, if so, whether, in view of the fact that the public will have to bear the expense, he will consider the possibility of establishing an office in St. Mary's for the use of the general public?

The POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Mr. Kellaway)

A two-party telephone exchange line is being provided on rental terms from the New Romney Exchange to premises at St. Mary's. There is no post office at St. Mary's, but I will ascertain whether arrangements can be made for a call office on private premises. A separate pair of wires would be necessary for a call office, and a guarantee would probably be required.
