§ 33. Mr. RAFFANasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many of the 35,000 Rhodesian natives referred to in White Book (Cmd. 547) have been removed from their reserves; and whether any compensation has been made to them to cover the costs of removal?
§ Mr. CHURCHILLI have not received recent figures of such voluntary removals as may have taken place, but the hon. Member will observe from the despatch published in the White Book of December, 1920 (Cmd. 1042), that no question of compulsory removal could arise until after the 15th of this month. As regards the question of compensation, I would refer to my reply to the hon. and gallant Member for Newcastle-under-Lyme (Colonel Wedgwood) on the 27th July last.
