Mr. BETTERTONasked the Prime Minister the reasons why the sum of 2,576,000,000 gold marks, representing in cash and in kind the amount of German reparation still undistributed, has not yet been divided amongst the Powers entitled; when it is proposed that distribution shall take place; and what is the amount to which Great Britain is entitled?
Mr. YOUNGWith the exception of a small amount of cash since distributed, the amount in question consisted simply of book credits to Germany for such items as property ceded to Poland, namely, for which payment has not yet been received by the Reparation Commission, and cannot yet in most cases be received. The account will eventually be cleared, when Inter-Allied agreement has been reached as to the method in which these items are to be dealt with.
