Major COHENasked the Minister of Pensions whether he will consult the views of ex-service men before any suggestions made by the Committee on National Expenditure regarding pensions are adopted; whether he is aware that there is a strong feeling among ex-service men against any of the suggestions being adopted which refer to economy in the treatment of disabled men and parents' dependent pensions; and whether he will inform the House of the various reforms he proposes to make in the matter of treatment when pensions are made permanent, as mentioned in paragraph D, page 165, of the First Interim Report of the Committee on National Expenditure?
§ Mr. MACPHERSONThe 'rates of allowance specified in Article 6 of the Warrant are an integral hart of that Warrant, and cannot and will not be reduced except in accordance with the terms of the Royal Warrant itself, which provide, as the House well knows, that these allowances cannot come under review till 1923. I am glad to be able to assure my hon. and gallant Friend that I have already made arrangements to consult at an early date the Advisory Committee constituted under the War Pensions Act, 1921, on which there are several representatives of ex-service officers and men, in regard to my proposals for the better administration of medical treatment and allowances.
