HC Deb 14 February 1922 vol 150 c820
61. Mr. LYLE

asked the Home Secretary whether, in view of the fall in the cost of petrol, and also the decline in rubber and other running charges, he will consider the desirability of restoring taxicab fares to something like their pre-War rates?

Mr. SHORTT

I am unable to propose any alteration of the fares at present, but the matter will be further considered later if the conditions continue to improve.

Mr. LYLE

Can the right hon. Gentleman give some reasons for this decision?

Mr. SHORTT

I am acting on the advice of those whom I consulted.
