asked the Home Secretary what is the number of horses purchased during the year ended 31st December, 1921, for the use of the mounted police; and what was the average cost per horse?

Mr. SHORTT

The number of horses purchased during the last year to make good the wastage in the mounted branch was 45. The average cost per horse was £69 18s. 2d., and, allowing for proceeds of sale of "cast" horses, the net cost was £45 5s. 2d.
