HC Deb 13 February 1922 vol 150 c611
83. Mr. W. GRAHAM

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Transport whether he has observed that the scheme for the amalgamation of the Taff Vale Railway Company with the Great Western Railway Company involves the grant of £22,500 to the directors of the Taff Vale Railway Company for loss of office; and whether this grant comes before his Department for approval or review?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of TRANSPORT (Mr. Neal)

The amalgamation scheme to which the hon. Member refers has not yet been submitted to the Ministry of Transport. The answer to the last part of the question is in the negative. I would remind my hon. Friend that sums paid by way of compensation to the directors of a company are only payable (with the consent of the proprietors) out of the assets of the company.
