asked the Prime Minister whether the office of Lord Lieutenant is still in existence, and what are its functions?

Mr. CHURCHILL

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The functions of the Lord Lieutenant continue to be to represent His Majesty in Ireland. He will also act in accordance with the advice of responsible Ministers.
