§ The Fifth Session of the Thirty-first Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, appointed to meet 7th February, 1922, in the twelfth year in the Reign of King George V., was opened by His Majesty in person.
§ The House met at Twelve of the Clock, Mr. SPEAKER (Right Hon. J. H. Whitley, M.P.) in the Chair.
§ The Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod (General Sir William Pulteney) was announced.
§ Addressing Mr. SPEAKER, the General Usher said: The King commands this Honourable House to attend His Majesty immediately in the House of Peers.
§ Mr. Speaker, accompanied by the Right Hon. Edward Shortt, Right Hon. Sir Donald Maclean, Right Hon. William Adamson, and other Members went to the House of Lords.
§ On their return, the Sitting was suspended until Three of the Clock, and then resumed.
