§ 73. Mr. WILLIAM NICHOLSONasked the President of the Board of Education the result of the further inquiry into the proposed closing of the elementary school at Chalton Horndean, Hants, which on 30th March he promised to make; whether he will arrange for a public inquiry to be held locally, under Section 31 of the Education Act, 1918, as to the proposed closing of the school; and whether he is aware that the managers are anxious that the public inquiry should be held?
§ Mr. FISHERI have now received a copy of a resolution passed on the 6th April at a meeting of the managers of the school, consenting to its closure. I understand that the managers asked that a, public inquiry should be held, but as I have no authority to require the managers to continue to provide the school, I do not think that an inquiry would serve any useful purpose.
