asked the Home Secretary if he will state, in connection with the State management districts, the approximate reduction which would be shown in the percentage return to capital if in the three years ended 31st March, 1921, Excess Profits Duty and Income Tax had been paid, as would have been the case if the various properties had remained in private hands?

To ascertain the particulars asked for by the hon. and gallant Member would, I understand, entail a very considerable amount of labour, and in the circumstances my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer does not feel justified in asking the Inland Revenue Authorities to incur the expense involved.
