HC Deb 04 April 1922 vol 152 cc2028-9
70. Sir H. BRITTAIN

asked the Post master-General whether he is prepared to give consideration to the intro- duction of night letters by telegram (50 words at the day rate of 12) from 7 p.m. or at any later hour?

Mr. KELLAWAY

A service is already in operation under which night telegraph letters may be sent between any two towns in which the head office is open always, for delivery by first post the next morning. They may be handed in at, or telephoned to, a head office with an all-night service at any time before midnight, or posted in time to reach it by midnight. The rate is 1s. for 36 words or less, and 1d. for every 3 words beyond 36.
