18. Dr. MURRAYasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that, after exhaustive hearings before the Referee under Part I of the Safeguarding of Industries Act, it is admitted by his Department, manufacturers, merchants, and scientists that the term in the Schedule, all other fine chemicals, cannot be interpreted; and, if so, what steps he proposes to take to rectify the matter or whether he proposes to continue to endeavour to enforce the Act?
§ Mr. BALDWINI am unable to accept the proposition laid down in the first part of the question. The doubts which have arisen relate to only a limited number of cases, which are of a border line character, and provision for dealing with these is made in the Act itself. No further action appears necessary.
