HC Deb 10 November 1921 vol 148 c579
15. Mr. GRITTEN

asked the Chief Secretary whether the inspector and other officials of the Local Government Board in Ireland are discharging duties in connection with local authorities who have given their allegiance to Dail Eireann; and, if so, whether he will explain why officers paid from Government funds should work for such authorities?

Sir H. GREENWOOD

The hon. Member is under a misapprehension. The inspector and other officials of the Local Government Board discharge statutory duties under the direction of Government, and they are in no sense officers of the local authorities. The latter part of the question does not, therefore, arise.
