HC Deb 10 November 1921 vol 148 cc608-9
63. Major BARNETT

asked the Home Secretary whether, having regard to the death of a woman named Maud Moore in the cells at West Ham police court, he will reconsider the desirability of grant- ing permission to the women justices of the peace of London to inspect the cells attached to the Metropolitan police courts and to inquire into the conditions under which women are detained there?

Mr. SHORTT

My attention has been drawn to this case. I am considering the suggestion in the latter part of the question.

Major BARNETT

Will the right hon. Gentleman undertake to spend a night at the West Ham Court?

Mr. SHORTT

Not unless it is necessary.
