HC Deb 26 May 1921 vol 142 cc306-7
46. Mr. LUNN

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any decision has yet been come to as to the method in which the negotiations with the Egyptian delegation will be conducted when it arrives in this country; and who will be appointed to conduct the negotiations?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

I have nothing to add to the answer given to the last part of the question put by the hon. Member for Stafford on 17th March last.

47. Mr. LUNN

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of his statement that it was for the Egyptians themselves to choose the delegation to negotiate the treaty between their country and Great Britain, and that the delegation was to be chosen by the Ministry, and in view of the admission that the Ministry is now unrepresentative of the Egyptians, His Majesty's Government will take steps to assure themselves of the bonâ fides of whatever delegation is sent as being chosen by the Egyptians themselves?

Mr. HARMSWORTH

I am unaware of the alleged admission to which the hon. Member refers, and His Majesty's Government see no reason to doubt the bond fides of a delegation sent by the Sultan on the advice of his Ministers.
