HC Deb 26 May 1921 vol 142 cc317-8
66. Mr. T. A. LEWIS

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he is aware that the present system whereby Land Tax Commissioners are informed of meetings for the appointment of Income Tax Commissioners through a casual notice in the Press works unsatisfactorily; and whether he will consider the desirability of arranging for a special notice to be sent of the holding of such meetings to each Land Tax Commissioner individually?

Mr. YOUNG

In addition to publication in the Gazette and in the local Press of the notice convening the meeting, the existing procedure provides for the issue by the clerk to the local Commissioners of an individual notice to each Land Tax Commissioner of meetings of the Land Tax Commissioners, for the purpose of choosing persons to be placed on the list to supply vacancies among the Income Tax Commissioners.
