29. Major MALONEasked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the misery caused through unemployment and the 1781 damage to our national trade consequent on the dispute in the coal industry, he is prepared to introduce immediate legislation to compel the parties concerned to submit their dispute to an impartial board of arbitration, whose decision should be binding on both?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINI agree that the damage caused to trade by the coal stoppage leads to very serious consideration as to methods by which it may fairly be brought to an end; but I am not prepared, as circumstances are at present, to introduce legislation for the purpose indicated by my hon. and gallant Friend.
