The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. Herbert Lewis)On 1st March, 1921, there were employed in or in connection with elementary (including special) schools maintained by Local Education Authorities in England and Wales 116,512 certificated teachers and 35,180 uncertificated teachers. Of the certificated teachers 79,926 had been trained in English, Scottish or Irish training colleges, and 36,586 had not been so trained.
